VOLUNTEER WORK

If you have the idea of making the journey of your life and also want to make yourself useful in a completely different culture than yours! You can do this by combining your trip with volunteer work. Nuacas has a great offer for you.

NUACAS connects volunteers in Tanzania who would like to contribute to Tanzanian projects where they can really use the help of Western people. All projects we work with are personally visited by us. In addition, we ourselves provide on-site guidance. NUACAS considers it important that both the volunteer and the people of the projects feel comfortable and safe.

All projects are located in the villages around Lake Victoria in North-West Tanzania. The volunteer work is aimed at meeting the local population, working together and exchanging knowledge. Here are some examples of projects:

Faraja Nyatukala playground Sengerema

Together with the employees of the playground you ensure that children can play safely. Children in Tanzania have not yet learned to play and your goal is to familiarize them with the different play equipment and let them play together.

Workshops are given on weekends and holidays to give more children the opportunity to play. Workshops include making kites followed by a kite competition, a sports and games afternoon, making toys from crown caps, etc. Your input for more workshops is always welcome.

Day care centers

There are several day care centers in the village where children aged 4 to 7 are prepared for primary school. They learn the alphabet and numbers. As a volunteer you are committed to teaching the children of kindergarten a basic knowledge of English. You can make an impact in a playful way by teaching the children the basics of the English language. In addition, there is also enough time to play with the children.

Health centre

People come to a health center to get tested for various diseases. If, after the result, medication by infusion is necessary, this can also be administered at the Health Centre. There are a few rooms available for this. As a volunteer you will join the Health Center in the village. You help with receiving patients, doing tests in the laboratory, administering medication and supervising patients who have been admitted. The support to the team and access to your knowledge is an enrichment of the existing team. (medical knowledge is required)

E labs

E-labs is the laboratory school in the village. It is a two-year course. As a volunteer at the laboratory school you teach the students English. In addition, you can also participate in giving lessons in entrepreneurship. (minimum 3 months)

Green house project

In Misungwi there are two 'greenhouses' on a large site near Lake Victoria. Together with the employees of the greenhouses you help as a volunteer with the daily care of sowing, planting, weeding and harvesting of the products in and around the greenhouse. In addition, there are also goats and a cow that need to be cared for and where you can support the employees.

In addition to these projects, there are many other possibilities. Contact us and we will plan your dream trip together with you!

Costs

During your volunteer work you stay at NUACAS in a private or shared room of your choice. The rooms have their own shower and toilet. And meals are provided. Laundry can be done for a small fee. And there is WIFI available. There is always on-site guidance available from NUACAS, where you can go for questions. Volunteering is free, you don't have to contribute anything. But there are costs associated with your stay and for the guidance.

For one week this is € 300,- pp for a private room and € 250,- pp for a shared room. If you stay longer than a month, a discount is possible.

In other words, karibu sana in Sengerema!
